The Italian Vittoriale

The Vittoriale is a monumental citadel that was built in Gardone Riviera (Brescia) by the shore of Lake Garda. It was conceived by the poet Gabriele d’Annunzio together with the architect Giancarlo Maroni who carried out a lot of work in the area.
It is possible to visit the whole complex of buildings, streets, squares, theatres, gardens and watercourses created to celebrate the poet’s “inimitable life” and the endeavours of the Italian army during the First World War. The visit is worth a day of cultural relaxation with the family.
